Diet affects not only the appearance and physical health of a person, but also their psyche and, in particular, well-being. Very often, food is used to improve mood, it is a simple way to deal with stress, sadness, regret and anger. The aim of the study was to analyze scientific reports on the relationship between nutrition and human mental health, in particular the impact of stress on eating behavior in terms of the occurrence of specific and non-specific eating disorders. According to the authors of the analyzed studies, psychotherapy, especially cognitive-behavioral therapy, combined with an appropriate diet, physical activity and changing eating habits brings particularly good results. Researchers report that it is also important not to discriminate against people with eating disorders and to stop promoting the cult of the emaciated figure, which can cease the growing trend of eating disorders.
