Every year, many cases of accidents at work and occupational diseases of farmers are reported to the regional branches and local offices of Kasa Rolniczego Ubezpieczenia Społecznego (Agricultural Social Insurance Fund - KRUS). For many years, there has been a downward trend in such events, although they have increased again since 2021. Contact with chemical plant protection products can be particularly dangerous for people working in agriculture. It should be emphasized that the situation in this respect has significantly improved, because in accordance with the provisions of Art. 41 of the Act of March 8, 2013 on plant protection products, treatments with plant protection products intended for professional users can only be performed by people who have completed training in the use of plant protection products. Such activities will help to better protect the health and life of people performing protective treatments and those exposed to contact with plant protection products. The Code of Good Agricultural Practice, the Guide of Good Plant Protection Practice and the Code of Good Practice of Plant Protection Organization serve to build awareness and responsibility as well as appropriate attitudes in agricultural activity, especially in plant protection.
